From The Sovereign Games

CYCLE Calibration position — Active Development

This page is a conceptual instrument under Permanent Beta. It declares a real calibration position, not a finished product waiting to ship. Checking continues; an edit is only required when evidence demands it. Stage: Seed to Fruit.

Feedback welcome — especially clarity, failure modes, and calibration gaps. Use discussion or Contribute.

Canonical Question: What does the New Page Seed template contain, and how does a tech correctly strip it down for the specific page they're creating?

Template:New Page Seed/doc

This page documents Template:New Page Seed — the universal blank seed template used to preload a correctly-structured starting point for new main/master pages.

What the Seed Contains

The seed includes every standard structural element a new page may need:

  • Development Notice
  • GameModule infobox (positioned under the first content heading, not before it)
  • Canonical Question field
  • {{RelatedPages}} (mandatory)
  • One of the transparency template options (Page Transparency / Page Transparency-Subpage / Standalone Transparency — the seed defaults to Standalone Transparency as the safe starting point)
  • {{Calibration Maintenance}}, {{Calibration Dependent}}, {{Calibration Dependencies Display}} (all mandatory, every page)
  • {{Framework Reference}}, {{Tracking Logs Reference}}, and {{Calibration Procedure Reference}} (mandatory, every page)
  • Typical Failure Modes section
  • Revision Trigger section
  • Standing footer, categories, hidden Resource block
  • Full Admin Page Status block, all 21 fields, with hidden inline field guides and warnings

What to Remove, Based on Page Type

  • Development Notice — remove if the page isn't actively in development at creation.
  • Transparency template — keep exactly one. The seed defaults to {{Standalone Transparency}}; replace with {{Page Transparency}}, {{Page Transparency-Subpage}}, or another variant once this page's actual structural position is confirmed. See Template:Calibration Template for full guidance on which variant matches which depth and Calibration Log approach.
  • {{RelatedPages}} — mandatory, do not remove. If a manually-curated list is genuinely more appropriate for this specific page, replace the template call with a manual list rather than deleting it silently.
  • Typical Failure Modes — remove entirely if genuinely not applicable; do not leave it blank without explanation.
  • Admin Page Status fields — keep all of them; leave values blank rather than deleting fields. Blank and absent mean different things — see the field guides directly in the seed template for what each field expects.

Critical Warnings (Do Not Skip)

  • Never use {{CURRENTYEAR}}-{{CURRENTMONTH}}-{{CURRENTDAY}} in the date fields (`Last Updated` on GameModule, `review_date` on Admin Page Status). This is a live template call that silently shows today's date on every page view, forever — it is false and defeats calibration cycle tracking. Both fields must be real, static, manually-typed dates, set only when an actual calibration event occurs. See Calibration Failure Log for the incident this warning exists because of.
  • `review_date` changes only on a real Calibration Report — never during pre-cal discussion, exploration, or a check that finds nothing wrong. Test for whether an edit counts as a real calibration: does it affect a field rating (`instrument_grade`, `validation`, `drift_report_status`) or a claim's actual content/structure? If yes, it's a calibration event. If it's pure formatting/typo/link correction with zero effect on any rating or claim, it's minor — edit summary only, `review_date` stays untouched.
  • `depends_on` should never include universal infrastructure (Admin Page Status, GameModule) — only genuine, specific, load-bearing content dependencies. See Calibration Dependencies: Standards and Process.

Usage

{{New Page Seed}} — reference only, do not transclude on a live page. Copy the content, then delete/adjust per the guidance above.

Clicking the link below opens a new page with the seed already loaded. Edit the page name in the URL and refresh to target a specific title.

Current Calibration Status

Calibration status for this documentation is tracked on Template:New Page Seed, not here — the two are calibrated as one unit. See that page directly for current instrument_grade, validation, and review history.

Calibration Dependent

Pages that list this page as a load-bearing dependency:

Page Priority Instrument Grade Last Updated Cycle Status Drift Status
Template/Doc Calibration Pattern Core Experimental 2026-07-14 Current Breadcrumb-Open

If this page is edited substantively, review the list above per the Ripple Review rule — see Calibration Dependencies: Standards and Process#Rule: Core-Priority Changes Trigger Mandatory Ripple Review.

Calibration Dependencies

Pages this page relies on as load-bearing dependencies: Template:New Page Seed Calibration Failure Log Page Structure Calibration Checklist Calibration Dependencies: Standards and Process If incorrect, edit the `depends_on` field in Admin Page Status — do not edit this section directly, it is auto-generated.

Calibration References

This page is calibrated against the following core standards and reference materials:

Page Construction & Maintenance References

How we construct, maintain, and utilize each page as a self-admin control panel.

  • Distributed Instrumentation — the architectural principle behind why this page (and every page) carries its own live instrumentation, rather than relying on a separate central dashboard.
  • Page Structure Calibration Checklist — the Step 0 structural pass every page should pass before content calibration begins; this page's own structure should be checkable against it.
  • Template:New Page Seed — the seed template this page's basic structure was built from.
  • Calibration Log: When to Create One — the decision procedure this page's own Talk-only vs. dedicated-log status was decided against.
  • Framework Features Reference — maintains consistency and traceability across the framework's structural features while avoiding unnecessary maintenance overhead; consult before introducing a new structural pattern this page might otherwise duplicate.

Calibration Procedure

In development. See Calibration Procedure for current status. No formal step-by-step procedure exists yet beyond the practices demonstrated across individual pages developed during the initial creation of this project.
