Canonical Question: Does treating a page as a gauge block — something that is both calibrated and used to calibrate — actually hold up as a working architecture, or is it just a metaphor?
What was proven: The core claim of Conceptual Instruments — that an abstract page can be treated the same way physical metrology treats a gauge block, as an object that is itself calibrated against a standard and usable as a reference to calibrate other objects — is not just a conceptual framing. It is the actual, demonstrated architecture underneath everything built in this project. Every `depends_on` relationship, every Candidate Reference Standard designation, every page citing another page's finding as load-bearing evidence, is this principle operating directly, not metaphorically.
Why this is the milestone, not just the concept itself: the idea existing on a page is not the same as the idea holding up under real use. What makes this a milestone is that the gauge-block framing turned out to be load-bearing — remove it, and the rest of tonight's infrastructure (the trifecta of reference templates, the tracker system, Ripple Review, Standards taxonomy's whole taxonomy of standard types) stops being one coherent architecture and becomes a pile of separately-justified tools. With it, all of that follows from one consistent idea.

- Standards: Types and Calibration Obligations's entire Type taxonomy (Candidate Reference Standard, Governing, Organizational, Requested) is a direct application of "some pages are reference gauge blocks, calibrated to be trusted as a standard."
- Calibration Dependent and Calibration Dependencies Display only make sense as mechanisms if pages are genuinely being cited as reference instruments by other pages, not just linked as related reading.
- The Disconfirmation Conditions (Sustained Contrary Evidence, Context Shift, Superseded, etc.) are the abstract equivalent of a gauge block failing recalibration — the framework built a real decommissioning process for a claim, the same way physical metrology decommissions a worn reference standard.
- The whole Slave Owner Game diagnostic functions as an instrument other pages calibrate against (Boundary Conditions, False Positives, Legitimate Authority all reference its mechanisms as a fixed reference point).
What This Milestone Does NOT Claim
This does not claim every page in the project is equally reliable as a reference instrument — instrument_grade and validation ratings exist precisely because pages vary in how trustworthy they currently are as a "gauge block." It does not claim this architecture has been tested outside this project's own content.
