This template provides a quick-reference table for which navigation templates to use when building Calibration Log infrastructure at different page depths (main page, subpage, sub-subpage). It exists because pages at different depths in the hierarchy need different back-navigation — a Calibration Log for a subpage needs to link back further than one for a main page.

If a page ever needs a subpage of a subpage of a subpage (four levels deep), a corresponding `-Subpage` variant navigation template would need to be created for that depth as well, following the same naming pattern.

CYCLE Calibration position

StatusActive Development

This page is a conceptual instrument under Permanent Beta. It declares a real calibration position, not a finished product waiting to ship. Checking continues; an edit is only required when evidence demands it. Stage: Seed to Fruit.

Feedback welcome — especially clarity, failure modes, and calibration gaps. Use discussion or Contribute.

Template:Calibration Template

Quick reference for which transparency / calibration navigation templates to use at different hierarchy depths when building Calibration Log (and, when warranted, Decision Records) infrastructure. Not: when to create a log (see Calibration Log: When to Create One); report shape (see Calibration Report Standard Format); page structure pre-cal (see Page Structure Calibration Checklist). Transclusion: Calibration Template inserts the quick-reference tables (includeonly). This documentation stays on the template page only. Known issue — SMW list values: multi-value fields such as depends_on did not split reliably via SMW #set/+sep in testing. Prefer Cargo List (;) of String (or current project pattern) — full record: Known Site Issues & Fixes.

Philosophy (short)

 • Different depths need different back-navigation.
 • Calibration Log: When to Create One decides Talk-only vs /Calibration Log.
 • Decision Records are not required on every page. When a dedicated Decision Records subpage exists, it is a sibling of Calibration Log under the same master — not merged into one page.
 • Site logs (Known Site Issues, scar index, dashboards, many standards) stay Talk-only — use Template:Standalone Transparency (or current standalone pattern), not a forced log subpage.

Usage map

Standalone — no dedicated log/records subpages

When Calibration Log: When to Create One says Talk-only:

 • Main or subpage menu: Standalone Transparency
 • Reports and decision notes (if any) live on Talk.
 • Later, if a log becomes warranted, re-run When to Create One and switch to a Standard section below; carry Talk history forward by reference, not by emptying Talk.

Standard — main page with its own log (and optional Decision Records)

On main page: Page Transparency On Main/Calibration Log and on Main/Decision Records (if that sibling exists): Calibration Log Header

Master
├─ Log
└─ Records ← only if governance memory warrants it

Standard — subpage with its own log (and optional Decision Records)

On subpage: Page Transparency-Subpage On Subpage/Calibration Log and Subpage/Decision Records (if any): Calibration Log Header-Subpage

Master Subpage
├─ Log
└─ Records ← optional sibling

Subpage with no dedicated log — hub-linked

Significant subpage, log still at hub/main:

 • Menu: Subpage Hub-Linked Transparency
 • Routes log/records links to Main /Calibration Log (and Decision Records if present); discussion posture per that template (usually hub Talk).
 • If the subpage later needs its own log, switch to “Subpage with its own log” and re-run When to Create One.
Master
├─ Subpage (hub-linked transparency — no log children)
├─ Log
└─ Records ← optional

Deeper than three levels: add a matching -Subpage (or depth-specific) header variant if needed; do not invent ad hoc link sets.

Structural Connections

Page Transparency & Calibration

This page is under continuous calibration in line with the Permanent Beta principle.

Public Discussion Welcome

Questions, suggestions, feedback, disagreement, and proposed improvements are welcome on the Talk page.

Light rules:

 • Prefer evidence and concrete examples over slogans.
 • Apply Diagnostic Inversion Test when criticizing — the same standard to this page that you would apply elsewhere.
 • Distinguish observation from conclusion.
 • Calibration entries and Decision Records are maintenance records; public discussion belongs in ordinary Talk threads.
 • This framework remains in Permanent Beta. Better calibration is always in scope.

Calibration Dependent

Pages that list this page as a load-bearing dependency:

If this page is edited substantively, review the list above per the Ripple Review rule — see Calibration Dependencies: Standards and Process#Rule: Core-Priority Changes Trigger Mandatory Ripple Review.

Calibration Dependencies

Pages this page relies on as load-bearing dependencies: Calibration Log: When to Create One Page Structure Calibration Checklist Known Site Issues & Fixes If incorrect, edit the `depends_on` field in Admin Page Status — do not edit this section directly, it is auto-generated.

Calibration References

This page is calibrated against the following core standards and reference materials:

Page Construction & Maintenance References

How we construct, maintain, and utilize each page as a self-admin control panel.

 • Distributed Instrumentation — the architectural principle behind why this page (and every page) carries its own live instrumentation, rather than relying on a separate central dashboard.
 • Page Structure Calibration Checklist — the Step 0 structural pass every page should pass before content calibration begins; this page's own structure should be checkable against it.
 • Template:New Page Seed — the seed template this page's basic structure was built from.
 • Calibration Log: When to Create One — the decision procedure this page's own Talk-only vs. dedicated-log status was decided against.
 • Framework Features Reference — maintains consistency and traceability across the framework's structural features while avoiding unnecessary maintenance overhead; consult before introducing a new structural pattern this page might otherwise duplicate.

Calibration Procedure

In development. See Calibration Procedure for current status. No formal step-by-step procedure exists yet beyond the practices demonstrated across individual pages developed during the initial creation of this project.
