Origin: From Personal Crisis to Metrology of the Abstract

Canonical Question: Where did this project actually come from, and how long was the underlying insight developing before it became a system?

Summary: The concept of Metrology of the Abstract was conceived and put into action within days of this wiki's first page — the main page — being created on June 22, 2026. But the underlying discipline traces back much further, to 2008, when the project's founder — a former metrologist — was ill and applied the formal measurement discipline he had already trained in directly to his own thinking, on the reasoning that it couldn't hurt when nothing else was working. That practice developed over subsequent years into what would later be formalized as critical mindfulness, and from there into the recognition of a recurring interpersonal and institutional pattern that would eventually be named the Slave Owner Game.

Both critical mindfulness and the Slave Owner Game concept continued developing from roughly 2010 onward. Two earlier attempts were made to bring them to completion: a full critical mindfulness project, and a board-game-style teaching tool meant to help people recognize and refuse the Slave Owner Game pattern in practice. Neither reached completion.

After more than a decade of attempting to build the Slave Owner Game into something usable, the founder built a website dedicated to it instead. Within days of that website's creation, the concept of Metrology of the Abstract itself was conceived — the realization that the same disciplined, falsifiable, self-correcting rigor used in physical measurement could be applied directly to abstract claims, diagnoses, and governance, not just to one diagnostic game.

Why this matters as a milestone: Metrology of the Abstract is not a sudden invention — it is the direct outcome of roughly fifteen years of iterative, previously unfinished work, arriving at completion only once the underlying discipline (self-examination, pattern recognition, refusal to accept an unworkable draft) was pointed at the process of building itself, not just at its subject matter.
