CYCLE Calibration position — Active Development

This page is a conceptual instrument under Permanent Beta. It declares a real calibration position, not a finished product waiting to ship. Checking continues; an edit is only required when evidence demands it. Stage: Seed to Fruit.

Feedback welcome — especially clarity, failure modes, and calibration gaps. Use discussion or Contribute.

Submit a Term

Canonical Question: How can someone propose a contested abstract term so it can be run through the Term Decomposition Protocol and potentially added to the library of Calibrated Terms?

Description Open invitation to propose abstract terms for adversarial decomposition under the Term Decomposition Protocol (TDP-001). All resulting Calibration Records begin at Self-Assessed standing. Multi-instrument work required.

This category is an open invitation. The Metrology of the Abstract project accepts proposals for abstract terms to be decomposed under TDP-001.

What you can submit

  • A single contested abstract term (e.g., justice, responsibility, intent, evidence, risk, identity, meaning, etc.).
  • Optional: a short note on why the term is high-value or currently ambiguous in practice.
  • Optional: any existing mechanism hypotheses or known failure modes you want tested.

What happens next

1. The term is logged as a candidate. 2. It is run (or queued for a multi-instrument run) under TDP-001. 3. A Calibration Record is produced and published under Self-Assessed standing. 4. The record is open to independent re-runs and adversarial attack. 5. Standing rises only when independent re-runs exist. AI-only agreement does not create Confirmed standing.

Non-negotiable rules

  • Multi-instrument work is required. Single-model runs are not accepted as formal records.
  • Every record must declare residual uncertainty and, if reached, a Floor.
  • Standing inflation is a logged nonconformance.
  • Everything is public and open to challenge.
  • The protocol itself remains under Permanent Beta.

How to submit

  • Add the term and any notes on the Talk page of this page, or
  • Open a new candidate entry and link it here, or
  • Contact the project maintainers with a clear term proposal.

Low ritual cost. High transparency requirement.

Typical Failure Modes

  • Often confused with: An open dictionary, a request for personal definitions, or a guarantee that every submitted term will be rapidly elevated to Confirmed standing.
  • Should NOT be used for: Promoting a preferred definition; bypassing the adversarial process; claiming Confirmed status without independent re-runs.
  • Common misuse: Submitting large batches of terms without prioritization; treating a Self-Assessed record as settled meaning.

Revision Trigger

This page should be reconsidered when:

  • The volume of proposals exceeds current capacity and a formal prioritization queue is needed.
  • Contribution patterns reveal a better submission format.
  • Standing or multi-instrument rules are updated upstream in TDP-001.

See the Game. Refuse the Game. Build Better.

This page is under continuous calibration in line with the Permanent Beta principle.

Page Construction & Maintenance References

How we construct, maintain, and utilize each page as a self-admin control panel.

  • Distributed Instrumentation — the architectural principle behind why this page (and every page) carries its own live instrumentation, rather than relying on a separate central dashboard.
  • Page Structure Calibration Checklist — the Step 0 structural pass every page should pass before content calibration begins; this page's own structure should be checkable against it.
  • Template:New Page Seed — the seed template this page's basic structure was built from.
  • Calibration Log: When to Create One — the decision procedure this page's own Talk-only vs. dedicated-log status was decided against.
  • Framework Features Reference — maintains consistency and traceability across the framework's structural features while avoiding unnecessary maintenance overhead; consult before introducing a new structural pattern this page might otherwise duplicate.

Calibration Procedure

In development. See Calibration Procedure for current status. No formal step-by-step procedure exists yet beyond the practices demonstrated across individual pages developed during the initial creation of this project.
