Calibration Report - 2026-07-13

Reviewer: Sovereign Review Type: Self-Assessment

Summary of Changes

  • Created Template:GameModule/doc as the canonical field guide for the GameModule template, modeled directly on the working structure of Template:Admin Page Status/doc.
  • Documented the special, non-stored nature of the `contents` parameter — unlike every other GameModule field, it is not queryable/calibration-tracked metadata, it is display-only markup for the page's right-side navigation box.
  • Resolved the `Functional Layer` vs. `Calibration Type` question: confirmed this was an intentional, considered rename (Functional Layer answers "what job does this page do," cleanly separated from Application Layer's "where is it used") — not drift. Existing pages using the old `Calibration Type` name have already been updated wiki-wide prior to this doc page being written, so there is no outstanding cleanup item from this change.
  • Resolved the `Maturity` scale discrepancy: an earlier six-value list (Experimental, Developing, Active Development, Foundational, Confirmed, Mature) was confirmed as leftover draft drift, not an intentional divergence. `Maturity` now documented as sharing the same five-value scale as `instrument_grade` in Admin Page Status (Experimental, Development, Confirmed, Field Validated, Reference Standard Candidate).
  • Documented the relationship between `Maturity` (public-facing) and `instrument_grade` (internal calibration record) — related, sharing a scale, but not required to move in perfect lockstep, cross-referencing the reasoning already established on the Admin Page Status doc.

instrument_grade: Development

calibration_rationale: Both open questions present at first draft (field naming, Maturity scale) have been directly resolved and confirmed, not left ambiguous. The underlying rename and scale-fix were also confirmed to already be applied across existing pages built earlier tonight, so this doc page is documenting settled fact rather than a still-changing target. Not yet independently reviewed, and not yet tested against someone else creating a new page using only this guide. review_confidence: High

Validation: Low

Newly created, used once by the primary contributor to document decisions already made elsewhere. Not yet tested by an independent page-builder using only this doc to correctly fill out GameModule on a new page.

Open Items

  • `type` field's controlled vocabulary is documented as a "current working list," explicitly open to expansion as new page types get established — not a closed list.
  • Still awaiting: an independent contributor using only this doc page to fill out GameModule correctly on a page they didn't already know how to build.
  • `has_backlinks` and `outbound_links_valid` both left as "Not checked" / "Not checked" and `in_outline`/`in_category_outline` as "No" — this page is new and hasn't yet been linked into the site's navigation structure. Worth a follow-up pass once it's properly placed.

See the Game. Refuse the Game. Build Better.
