Page Transparency & Calibration

This page is under continuous calibration in line with the Permanent Beta principle.

Public Discussion Welcome

Questions, suggestions, feedback, disagreement, and proposed improvements are welcome on the Talk page.

Light rules:

  • Prefer evidence and concrete examples over slogans.
  • Apply Diagnostic Inversion Test when criticizing — the same standard to this page that you would apply elsewhere.
  • Distinguish observation from conclusion.
  • Calibration entries and Decision Records are maintenance records; public discussion belongs in ordinary Talk threads.
  • This framework remains in Permanent Beta. Better calibration is always in scope.

Calibration Report — Nonconformance Reporting Procedure — 2026-07-14 (v0.2)

  • Page: Nonconformance Reporting Procedure
  • Summary: Defines what counts as a nonconformance finding, where it gets recorded, and how it's tracked via drift_report_status through resolution.
  • Reviewer: Sovereign
  • Review Type: Self-Assessment

Summary of Changes

  • Full page built from the bare draft discussed — added GameModule, Admin Page Status, Resource block, footer templates (previously entirely absent).
  • Formalized the distinction between nonconformance (a genuine error) and routine recalibration (expected refinement), with real examples drawn from this project's own history (Effects, The Cost of Control, SMW bug).
  • Incorporated the finalized `drift_report_status` options directly into this page's content, including the `Nonconformance-Open-With-Dependencies` value that collapses the Ripple Review check into the status field itself.
  • Defined required elements of a nonconformance finding as a table, tying directly to `drift_report_status`.

Reasoning / Rationale

This page exists because physical metrology has a formal nonconformance concept this project didn't yet have a home for — only the informal `drift_report_status` field existed, with no page explaining what its values actually mean or when to use which one. Building this now, as one concrete page, rather than a fully abstract procedure, follows the same "one real example before generalizing" discipline used successfully elsewhere tonight.

Confidence / Certainty Level

Moderate — the conceptual distinction (nonconformance vs. recalibration) is sound and well-grounded in real examples; the specific `drift_report_status` value set has not yet been tested against a real case beyond this page's own self-flagged finding.

instrument_grade: Experimental (unchanged)

calibration_rationale: First full draft; conceptually sound but not yet round-robin reviewed, and the field-level infrastructure it describes doesn't exist yet. review_confidence: Moderate

What This Report Does NOT Claim

This report does not claim `Template:Admin Page Status` has been updated to support the new `drift_report_status` values — it has not. This page describes an intended standard, not yet a fully implemented one. It also does not claim any existing page has been retroactively reviewed against this standard.

Fields Changed

New page created at v0.2 (v0.1 was the bare, un-structured draft from discussion). `drift_report_status = Nonconformance-Open` — self-flagged, not `None open`, per the finding below.

Open Items — This Page's Own Nonconformance

What was claimed/built vs. what was actually true: This page defines and relies on `drift_report_status` supporting five specific multi-value options, but `Template:Admin Page Status`'s actual field declaration (`#set`, `#cargo_declare`) has not yet been updated to support them — currently still the original three single-value options. How it was found: Self-identified while drafting this page. Severity: Affects every page in the project that would use these new status values — genuinely wide-reaching, correctly marked `Nonconformance-Open` rather than `-With-Dependencies` since this page itself has few dependents yet, but the underlying template change will need its own Ripple Review once made. Next step, not yet done: Update `Template:Admin Page Status`'s field declarations (`#set`/`#cargo_declare`, `Has_drift_report_status = List (;) of Text`) and doc page to implement what this page describes.

Nonconformance Report — Distributed Instrumentation — 2026-07-20

Page: Distributed Instrumentation Detected during: Page Structure Pre-Cal (AI Execution Format) Logged by: Sovereign Status: Open → to be resolved by structural update

Nonconformances

1. GameModule placement

GameModule appeared before the H1 and before the Canonical Question.
Required: after first heading and after any intro prose.

2. Forbidden live date (Last Updated)

  Used `2026-07-28`.
Explicitly forbidden — defeats cycle tracking.

3. Forbidden live date (review_date)

Same live magic-word violation in Admin Page Status.

4. Param naming

Used `| Functional Layer =` instead of the canonical param name `| Calibration Type =`.

5. Missing mandatory templates

  Absent: `{ {Framework Reference}}`, `{ {Calibration Procedure Reference}}`, `{ {Tracking Logs Reference}}`.

6. Missing inline option comments

No fields in GameModule or Admin Page Status carried the required HTML comments stating current valid options.

Resolution Plan

Apply the corrected structural version (separate edit). This is a pre-cal structural fix only — content calibration remains pending.

Amendment, 2026-07-14: Resolved. The false red-link test in the Page Transparency/Calibration section was corrected — the two separate bullets (Calibration Log, Decision Records) were collapsed into one, since both pointed to the identical Talk page URL and could never be meaningfully distinguished by link color once any calibration entry existed. Replaced with an honest instruction to check the Talk page's actual headings for decision-specific entries, rather than relying on link redness as a false signal. Verified independently: tested with a second reviewer (Grok), who correctly declined to draft changes until this nonconformance was formally logged first, per Nonconformance Reporting Procedure — confirms the "log before fixing" rule holds even when enforced by a party other than whoever wrote it. Pre-cal re-run post-fix, passed. Page updated with its own edit summary and Calibration Report. Sovereign (talk) 07:22, 20 July 2026 (EDT)Reply

Calibration Report — Nonconformance Reporting Procedure — 2026-07-20 (Structural Pre-Cal)

  • **Page:** Nonconformance Reporting Procedure
  • **Summary:** Structural pre-calibration pass. All identified nonconformances resolved except the intentional open status on the Admin Page Status template itself.
  • **Reviewer:** Sovereign
  • **Review Type:** Self-Assessment (Structural only)
    • Summary of Changes:**
  • Moved GameModule after Canonical Question and H1.
  • Replaced forbidden live magic-word dates with static `2026-07-20`.
  • Changed to canonical `| Calibration Type =` param.
  • Added required inline HTML comments on all fields.
  • Corrected mandatory template order.
    • Process Note:**

Nonconformances were logged before fixes were applied.

    • What This Report Does NOT Claim:**

No content calibration was performed. The page’s own open nonconformance (Admin Page Status template not yet updated for new drift_report_status options) remains open by design.

Amendment, 2026-07-20: Case closed. All six structural nonconformances (GameModule placement, both forbidden live-date fields, incorrect parameter naming, missing inline option comments, wrong mandatory template order) were corrected in the same-day structural pre-cal update, logged before fixing per procedure. Remaining open item, separate from this closed set: `drift_report_status = Nonconformance-Open` persists on this page only because `Template:Admin Page Status` itself has not yet been updated to support the multi-value `drift_report_status` options — this is a distinct, still-open nonconformance against the template, not against this page's own structure, and does not reopen the six items closed here. Amendment, YYYY-MM-DD: Case closed. [Brief statement of what was fixed and that it was logged before fixing.] Remaining open item, separate from this closed set: [Any distinct remaining issue, clearly scoped so it does not reopen the closed items.] Sovereign (talk) 07:37, 20 July 2026 (EDT)Reply
