Welcome to the MoA–TSG Lab. The wiki is the bench. The work is Metrology of the Abstract. Adopt the tools or leave them on the rack — either way, the need doesn't wait.

  • Lab Note: A redlink is not a failure. It identifies Calibration Debt—work waiting to be measured, mapped, and calibrated.

Level 4 is where Hidden Mastery moves from general skill development into applied work on specific, recurring patterns.

Up to this point you have been building foundational capabilities: - Level 1: Ownership of your instruments - Level 2: Seeing patterns in interactions - Level 3: Turning observation inward on yourself

Level 4 teaches you to take those capabilities and deliberately apply them to named diagnostic games — recurring, identifiable patterns of behavior that reliably produce poor outcomes for individuals and groups.

What Are Diagnostic Games?

Diagnostic games are structured patterns of interaction that can be identified, named, and studied. They are not random. They have typical moves, incentives, emotional hooks, and predictable failure modes.

Examples include:

  • Whack-A-Mole
  • Future diagnostic games (to be developed)

Each game module teaches you how to recognize the pattern, understand its mechanics, and apply Hidden Mastery principles to stay calibrated while engaging with (or refusing) that pattern.

Purpose of Level 4

Level 4 serves two main functions:

1. Applied Practice — It gives you concrete patterns to work on rather than abstract skill development. 2. Bridge to Advanced Work — It prepares you to handle real-world complexity while maintaining process awareness.

By working with specific games, you develop the ability to stay calibrated under more challenging conditions.

How Diagnostic Games Are Structured

Each diagnostic game in Level 4 is taught as a module that includes:

  • Clear identification of the pattern
  • Typical moves and sequences
  • Emotional and identity hooks
  • How the pattern captures people (including calibrated people)
  • How to apply Hidden Mastery while engaging with the pattern
  • Common failure modes when people try to “play” the game with good intentions

Some games will also have lighter “Game Version” versions for broader accessibility, while the main course version maintains full rigor.

Calibration of Diagnostic Games

Because diagnostic games are named and taught as recurring patterns, they carry a risk of becoming one person’s pet frustration or selective perception dressed up as objective structure.

To keep Level 4 consistent with the framework’s standards, each diagnostic game module should eventually include:

  • Observed instances of the pattern across different contexts and people
  • What would falsify or significantly weaken the claim that this is a recurring, identifiable game
  • How the game has been tested or refined through real application
  • Common ways the game description itself could drift or become weaponized

This calibration step is not yet fully developed. It will be refined as more game modules are created and as Whack-A-Mole is completed.

Current Game Module

  • Whack-A-Mole — The first diagnostic game module in development.

Additional game modules will be added over time as they are developed and calibrated. Level 4 is currently light on content because only one game exists so far.

How to Approach Level 4

Level 4 is best approached after you have some stability in Levels 1–3. The goal is not to rush into analyzing every interaction as a “game.”

Instead, treat each diagnostic game module as focused training:

  • Study the pattern
  • Practice recognizing it in real situations
  • Apply the two-layer frame (Process + Subject) while engaging with that specific pattern
  • Notice when the pattern begins to pull you out of calibration

The value comes from depth on specific patterns rather than trying to label everything.

Relationship to Other Levels

Level 4 does not replace earlier levels. It applies them.

You will still need:

  • Level 1 ownership when the game triggers your instruments
  • Level 2 pattern recognition to see the moves clearly
  • Level 3 recursive calibration to catch yourself when you start playing the game unconsciously

Level 4 simply gives you structured targets to practice on.

Moving Forward

Once you can apply Hidden Mastery to specific diagnostic patterns without losing your own calibration, you are ready to move into Level 5: Advanced Hidden Mastery (Hybrid), where you develop the capacity to hold three layers simultaneously and engage with subjects while maintaining full process awareness.
