Welcome to the MoA–TSG Lab. The wiki is the bench. The work is Metrology of the Abstract. Adopt the tools or leave them on the rack — either way, the need doesn't wait.
- Lab Note: A redlink is not a failure. It identifies Calibration Debt—work waiting to be measured, mapped, and calibrated.

This page is a conceptual instrument under Permanent Beta. It declares a real calibration position, not a finished product waiting to ship. Development Note: Assessment Practice vs Endless Debate
- Dual hat: Conceptual instrument + latent calibration procedure
- One line:
Intelligence that only debates has no standing. Practice is stating assessment, alternatives, data ceiling, and the right kind of ignorance — under a lock — so the next operator can act or refuse.

1. Conceptual instrument (reading lens)
| Pole | Pattern |
|---|---|
| Intelligence-as-performance | Endless debate — more positions, more fluency, no stop rule, no standing |
| Assessment practice | Identifiable, generalizable moves when knowledge is partial — honest floor, then stop or escalate |
Debate without a floor is hit-or-miss with better vocabulary. Practice is good enough under stated limits (see Doctrine: Good Enough, Better Than Hit or Miss (Seed)).
2. Core practice moves
2.1 Own assessment
Use your own reasoning on reliable data for the job you are covering. State clearly: This is my assessment. State limitations. Do not launder opinion as the world.
2.2 Other assessments
State competing assessments and their limitations. Point out counters. No strawman; no fake consensus merge.
2.3 Data ceiling
When data cannot support a tight call: say so. Name missing data and what would change standing.
2.4 Forms of “I don’t know”
| Form | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Don’t know — can look up | Retrievable; not yet retrieved |
| Know some — not all — can research more | Partial model; path to improve |
| Don’t know — known limits of the domain | May resolve later, or never — state residuals |
| Don’t know — out of capability / pay grade | Outside the lock of this instrument or role |
Missing pieces stated either way. Silence is the failure mode.
3. What was missing (added)
| Gap | Why it matters | Practice add |
|---|---|---|
| Decision class / job | Assessment without a job becomes free-floating debate | State what decision or question this assessment is for |
| Lock | Without lock, “I don’t know” and strong claims blur | State what this pass is allowed to conclude — and not |
| Stop rule | Endless debate is the default without one | After 2.1–2.4: act, refuse, escalate, or research — don’t loop for status |
| Standing of the claim | Fluency ≠ fitness | Label: hypothesis / working assessment / data-limited / out of lock |
| Symmetric application | Practice only on opponents = tribal theater | Same moves on own side first (Diagnostic Inversion) |
| Update path | Frozen “I assessed once” drifts | What evidence would raise, lower, or void this standing? |
| Refusal of fake depth | Prestige prose that skips 2.3–2.4 | Prefer honest L1 over theatrical L5 (Good Enough doctrine) |
| Next operator | Assessment is for use, not display | Can someone else act or refuse under your stated limits without you in the room? |
4. Latent procedure — “Cal with this” (attach later / run now)
Procedure: Assessment under partial knowledge
- State job / decision class
- State lock (what this pass may conclude)
- Emit own assessment + limitations (2.1)
- Emit other assessments + limits + counters (2.2)
- State data ceiling + missing data that would change standing (2.3)
- State the correct “I don’t know” form if applicable (2.4)
- Label standing of the output (hypothesis / working / data-limited / out of lock)
- Stop or escalate — act, refuse, research, or hand off; do not endless-debate
- Name residuals and update triggers
Pass: Next operator can act or refuse under stated limits. Fail: Fluency without job, lock, ceiling, or honest ignorance; debate as substitute for standing.
5. Failure modes
| Mode | Looks like | Correction |
|---|---|---|
| Debate as identity | More takes = more intelligence | Demand stop rule + standing label |
| Certainty theater | Strong claim, no ceiling, no residuals | Force 2.3–2.4 |
| Weaponized ignorance | “Nobody can know” to block all calibration | Separate domain limits from refusal to look |
| Selective practice | Full rigor on outgroup only | Inversion: same moves on self first |
| Research theater | Endless “can look up” without lookup or deadline | Time-box or downgrade standing |
| Pay-grade dodge | “Above me” when it is in lock | Check lock honestly; escalate only if truly out |
6. One-line doctrine
Endless debate is not calibration. Practice is job, lock, own view, other views, data ceiling, and the right “I don’t know” — then stop, act, or escalate under stated standing. Unaware design toward procedure; dual-hat is labeling and packaging so techs execute, not only admire.
