'''Calibration Cycle''' tracks how many times a page has actually been reviewed and calibrated — distinct from both '''Document Version''' (content revision) and '''instrument_grade''' (current trustworthiness).

We separate two distinct concepts:
A page can be:
* Reviewed multiple times with no version change (refinements within the same version), or
* Have its version bumped several times between reviews.

'''1. Document Version'''
There is no separate cycle-count field. The Talk page’s '''Calibration Reports''' log serves as the authoritative cycle record.
Answers: “Which revision am I looking at?”
Simple incrementing number that tracks changes to the page.

'''2. Calibration Status (Instrument Grade)'''
See [[Template:Admin Page Status/doc]] for the full explanation of how cycles, versions, and instrument_grade interact.
Answers: “How trustworthy is this as a calibrated instrument right now?”
This is the more important metrological signal.

Welcome to the MoA–TSG Lab. The wiki is the bench. The work is Metrology of the Abstract. Adopt the tools or leave them on the rack — either way, the need doesn't wait.

  • Lab Note: A redlink is not a failure. It identifies Calibration Debt—work waiting to be measured, mapped, and calibrated.

CYCLE Calibration position

StatusActive Development

This page is a conceptual instrument under Permanent Beta. It declares a real calibration position, not a finished product waiting to ship. Checking continues; an edit is only required when evidence demands it. Stage: Seed to Fruit.

Feedback welcome — especially clarity, failure modes, and calibration gaps. Use discussion or Contribute.

Versioning

This page establishes how The Sovereign Games tracks changes and communicates the reliability of its conceptual instruments. This page is the canonical source for `instrument_grade` values — if a different list appears elsewhere, that page is stale and should be corrected to match this one.

Description This page defines the versioning and instrument grading standards used across The Sovereign Games to maintain traceability, clarity, and honest communication about the maturity and reliability of every module and page.

Two-Axis Model

  • Document Version — Tracks content revisions ("Which revision am I looking at?")
  • instrument_grade — Communicates current calibration trustworthiness ("How reliable is this instrument right now?")

Both are recorded in the

template on every page.

Calibration Cycle

Calibration Cycle tracks how many times a page has actually been reviewed and calibrated — distinct from both Document Version (content revision) and instrument_grade (current trustworthiness).

A page can be:

  • Reviewed multiple times with no version change (refinements within the same version), or
  • Have its version bumped several times between reviews.

There is no separate cycle-count field. The Talk page’s Calibration Reports log serves as the authoritative cycle record.

See Template:Admin Page Status/doc for the full explanation of how cycles, versions, and instrument_grade interact.

Versioning Scheme

  • 0.x → Early development (frequent changes expected)
  • 1.x → Stable working version
  • 2.0+ → Major revision

instrument_grade Levels

  • Experimental — Very early, high uncertainty, frequent changes
  • Development — Actively being refined, moderate stability
  • Confirmed — Self-assessed + reviewed by at least one other calibrator
  • Field Validated — Tested in real-world use with supporting evidence
  • Reference Standard Candidate — High confidence, suitable for broad reliance

These levels are implemented via the `instrument_grade` field in Template:Admin Page Status, and via the `Maturity` field in Template:GameModule (public-facing counterpart, same scale — see Template:GameModule/doc for the relationship between the two).

Changelog Practice

Every page should maintain a short Calibration History section (usually in its Calibration Log) that records meaningful changes as calibration events.

Example:

  • 0.1 (2026-07-12) — Initial draft
  • 0.2 (2026-07-12) — Added instrument_grade levels
  • 0.3 (2026-07-13) — Resolved canonical-source conflict with Admin Page Status doc, cross-referenced Calibration Cycle distinction

Calibration References

This page is calibrated against the following core standards and reference materials:

Calibration Dependent

Pages that list this page as a load-bearing dependency:

Page Priority Instrument Grade Last Updated Cycle Status Drift Status

If this page is edited substantively, review the list above per the Ripple Review rule — see Calibration Dependencies: Standards and Process#Rule: Core-Priority Changes Trigger Mandatory Ripple Review.

Calibration Dependencies

Pages this page relies on as load-bearing dependencies: , Template:Admin Page Status/doc Template:GameModule/doc If incorrect, edit the `depends_on` field in Admin Page Status — do not edit this section directly, it is auto-generated.

Page Transparency & Calibration

This page is under continuous calibration in line with the Permanent Beta principle.

Public Discussion Welcome

Questions, suggestions, feedback, disagreement, and proposed improvements are welcome on the Talk page.

Light rules:

  • Prefer evidence and concrete examples over slogans.
  • Apply Diagnostic Inversion Test when criticizing — the same standard to this page that you would apply elsewhere.
  • Distinguish observation from conclusion.
  • Use the Calibration Log and Decision Records subpages for maintenance history; use Talk for public discussion.
  • This framework remains in Permanent Beta. Better calibration is always in scope.

Note: The `instrument_grade` scale is still relatively new. It may be refined based on real-world usage and additional calibration passes. Future updates to the scale itself will be tracked on this page's Decision Records subpage.

See the Game. Refuse the Game. Build Better.
