Callous Deflection Game

From The Sovereign Games (MoA Lab)

Callous Deflection Game

The Callous Deflection Game is the pattern where individuals (especially those in power or influence) respond to clear evidence of harm, failure, or suffering with emotional detachment, minimization, mockery, gaslighting, or smug indifference.

Core Definition

Instead of engaging with reality, the person deflects, plays coy, attacks the messenger, or shows amusement/callousness toward real human costs.

Observable Red Flags

  • Laughing, smirking, or showing amusement when discussing verifiable suffering or policy failure
  • Playing dumb or pretending not to understand obvious points
  • Whataboutism or immediate redirection away from the issue
  • Emotional flatness or inversion (treating victims as political inconveniences)
  • Doubling down while showing zero concern for the human cost

Levels of Play

  • Everyday level: Friends, family, or online users who deflect personal accountability
  • Authority level: Leaders, media figures, or officials who dismiss large-scale harm caused by their policies

Connection to Other Games

  • Often paired with Weaponized Empathy (empathy for perpetrators, callousness toward victims)
  • Serves the Slave Owner Game by protecting power and narrative
  • Works with Moloch to avoid fixing broken systems

Sovereign Response

Name the pattern clearly. Refuse to engage on their terms. Demand accountability and reduce support for those who consistently play it.
