Those who control the Overton Window control what society can debate and what is automatically dismissed as extreme.
How It Is Played
- Shifting the range of acceptable opinion through media, academia, and activism
- Labeling reasonable positions as “far-right” or “hate speech”
- Gradually normalizing once-unthinkable ideas (or making once-normal ideas taboo)
- Using social pressure and institutional power to enforce the new window
Sovereign Response
- Recognize when the window is being artificially moved
- Speak and act outside the manipulated window when reality demands it
- Build parallel platforms and institutions that operate on truth rather than approved opinion
